One of thirteen loose sheets in the covers of a Rowney Search documents and file names for text B25. Finberg places the series with the studies for vignettes (T.B.CCLXXX) but it seems more probable that these extremely free and obscure sketches date from the last years of Turner's active life. They include three, apparently of the same view, which are inscribed with a word which may read 'Coblenz'; most of the others also bear practically illegible inscriptions in Turner's hand. Only No.37, which includes a pencil sketch of a figure with outflung arms, seems to have any possible relation to the vignettes. It is inscribed 'N' (as are many of the group) 'give [?] to the Lady (study)'. An image generated by an AI Machine Learning Model Property of the artist. | ||
