Similar in technique and approach to the oil sketches on millboard found among the Turner Bequest at the British Museum (see No.469). This example came from the family of John Pound, the son of Turner's housekeeper Mrs Booth by her first marriage, and was sold at Christie's on 11 June 1909. The title is taken from that sale catalogue. In style this sketch seems to date from the late 1820s rather than from the later period of most of the British Museum sketches such as Nos.498-500.
